Steam account terms
Version 1, last updated 11 October 2026. These conditions apply to CaseFrames accounts linked to Steam. Playing as a guest needs no account. Case Battles are optional: the Case Battles section below applies only if you choose to take part in a battle, and before you first create or join one you are shown a specific notice about how battles work.
What a CaseFrames Steam account is
A free account, signed in through Steam, that keeps a cloud copy of your virtual progress and gives you a public player profile with leaderboard participation. CaseFrames is an unofficial simulator: balances and items are virtual, have no real-world value and cannot be bought, sold, traded, redeemed or withdrawn.
Who can have one
People aged 18 or older. You confirm this yourself after signing in; CaseFrames does not verify ages.
Your public profile and the leaderboards
Linking a Steam account to CaseFrames includes a public player profile and leaderboard participation. Other visitors may see your Steam display name, avatar, CaseFrames level, achievements, lifetime case-opening statistics, gold drops, leaderboard positions and the month you joined.
Specifically: your Steam display name and avatar, your CaseFrames level and rank, lifetime XP, weapon cases opened, gold drops (knives and gloves from weapon cases), your positions in the three leaderboards, a summary of your achievements and the month you joined. Your SteamID, virtual balance, inventory, opening history, cloud save and sign-in details are never shown.
You acknowledge these conditions with a checkbox before signing in through Steam; CaseFrames records the acknowledgment and the version of these terms with your account once Steam has confirmed your sign-in, and your profile becomes public only then (and after your separate 18+ confirmation). Accounts without a recorded acknowledgment, including accounts created before these terms, stay private until they acknowledge them; their saved progress is never erased or overwritten. You can make your account private again at any time on your profile page: your public profile and leaderboard entries disappear at once and your progress is kept, but cloud play pauses until you accept again, because the public profile is part of the account. You can always download or delete your data, or play as a guest.
How rankings are counted
Rankings use lifetime totals: the progress recorded in your save when your account is first set up under the leaderboard system (usually your next sign-in), taken once and labelled as imported (it was generated in the browser and is not verified by the server), plus every opening the CaseFrames server performs for you afterwards. Some very old openings were saved without enough detail to tell which container they came from or what they contained: they still count toward lifetime XP, but not as weapon cases or gold drops. Trade Up results never count as gold drops.
Case Battles
A Case Battle is a game between Steam accounts that each meet these terms. Every player opens the same cases in the order the host chose, one per round, and the highest or lowest total virtual value wins (equal totals are a draw). Each player pays the cases from their own virtual balance and keeps the virtual items they open; nothing is transferred between players, and there is no prize, stake or real-world value. The CaseFrames server decides all results and charges every player when the host starts the battle, so a started battle cannot be left or undone; it finishes on its own. Each player's items, with the matching opening history, statistics, XP, achievements and leaderboard totals, are added to their cloud progress when the battle ends; until then, other changes to that player's cloud progress (opening, selling, Trade Ups, Add funds) wait, never for longer than about 10 minutes after the battle ended. If a technical problem delays the delivery, the items are added as soon as it is resolved, on top of that player's progress at that time. You can delete your account at any time, including during a battle; the items of a battle that had not ended are then not delivered.
In a public battle, anyone, including visitors who are not signed in, can see every participant's Steam display name and avatar (linked to their public profile) and each round's results as they are revealed. Private battles are not listed and only their participants can see them. Before your first battle you confirm a short notice that summarises these points. Room names must not impersonate others or be offensive; CaseFrames may remove such rooms. How battle data is kept and deleted is explained in the privacy policy.
Fair play
Do not use automation, exploits or multiple accounts to manipulate the rankings. CaseFrames may limit requests and may remove an account from the rankings if they are manipulated. The rankings show what the server recorded; they are not a guarantee about how anyone played.
Ending your account
You can delete your CaseFrames account on your profile page at any time. This removes your cloud save, public profile, leaderboard entries and ranking statistics. The privacy policy explains how personal data are processed.
